Haematuria (Blood in the urine)
- Diagnosis
Your doctor will speak to you more to find out more about your symptoms, and in particular if you have any risk factors for urinary tract cancers. A clinical examination will be performed during your consultation.
You may be asked to do a set of initial investigations, which generally include:
- Urine tests
- to detect infections and cancer cells
- Blood tests
- Kidney function test
- Prostate specific antigen (PSA) in men
- Imaging of the urinary tract
- CT scan
- Alternatively Ultrasound or MRI scans
- Cystoscopy (bladder scope)
Your doctor may discuss with you to go for further tests if there are any abnormal findings from the initial investigations.
