Profile

Dr Tay Jia Sheng is a Visiting Consultant with the Department of Surgery, Sengkang General Hospital. He is a specialist general surgeon further subspecialising in vascular, endovascular and venous surgery.

He graduated from the Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine, National University of Singapore (NUS) in 2004. Since then, he has had extensive exposure and experience in various surgical disciplines such as General Surgery, Cardiothoracic & Vascular Surgery and Paediatric Surgery before formally embarking on Advanced Specialist Training in General Surgery.

He obtained his Master of Medicine in Surgery from NUS in 2015 and became a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh in 2017. He was practising in Changi General Hospital before joining Sengkang General Hospital in 2019. He is an expert operator in the most innovative surgical techniques in endovascular, vascular and vein surgery and is regularly invited to conduct workshops and showcases for fellow surgeons. He is also a dedicated educator and mentor with a proven track record, having received the Best Educator Award from the Eastern Health Alliance in 2016 and the Dean's Award for Teaching Excellence from the Yong Loo Lin Scholl of Medicine, National Univarsity of Singapore in 2020. Outside of his clinical and teaching portflio, he is actively interested in the use of information and communications technology such as augmented/mixed reality and artifical intelligence to improve educational, clinical, and surgical outcomes.
